So a bit late with this one but I’m officially over half way through my pregnancy!!! There were so many times that I never thought I’d get to this point, so I’m trying to remind myself of this when I’m feeling rotten!
The baby now weighs around a pound and is the size of an aubergine! Generally I’m feeling pretty much ok (ish!) The indigestion has already begun to kick in, which has left me feeling horrendously sick at times and in so much discomfort when laying down. I’ve invested in a pregnancy pillow to help with sleeping, but I’m also finding I’m having awful night sweats so it’s trying to balance not overheating with extra things in my bed and actually getting a half decent night’s sleep.
This pregnancy definitely feels so different to Noah’s. Movements are more frequent and felt earlier on. Neil was able to feel the movements from around 19 weeks and he or she is very active when their big brother goes to bed and gives mummy some peace! A second pregnancy is a whole new ball game compared to the first, the main one being the inability to rest! Pregnancy exhaustion mixed with an energetic toddler, full time shift work and a dog leaves about… zero energy! But I know it’ll all be worth it in the end.
In terms of diet and exercise… well let’s just say I’m not going to beat myself up about it. I had this wonderful image of being like super active and health conscious during this pregnancy, and the reality of it is, sometimes the only energy I have left is to order a takeaway through Just Eat! I’m still managing to sporadically go to the gym which I intend to do for as long as I can. I generally try to eat a good diet and still follow slimming world dinners but the weight is creeping on. Current weight gain is standing at 1st 2lb which I feel so disheartened about. I did find my maternity notes with Noah though and realised I weighed more at the start of my pregnancy with Noah then I do at nearly 22 weeks with this one… so I’ll try to focus on the positives!
I love seeing my little bump grow and the last week or so, my belly button has literally popped! I would say I’m definitely a lot smaller this time around than I was with Noah, which gives me some hope I’m not housing a giant baby again! I’m seeing a consultant on Monday; as Noah was considered a ‘macro baby’ they like to see you and discuss your birth etc… I’ll write more about this once I’ve had the appointment.
Anyway, that’s my quick bump update! I really need to get better at doing them as I feel like I’ve forgotten so much about my pregnancy with Noah and the likelihood is this will be my last pregnancy, so I want to simply treasure it! ❤️
